New documentary talks about changing face of Boystown

CHICAGO — The foodie website Eater Chicago has just released it’s first documentary. However, instead of something on the high-end dining options in the city, the documentary actually discussed the changing face of Chicago’s most well known gay neighborhood, Boystown.

INTO Managing Editor Zach Stafford, a Chicago native who spent a lot of time in the area as a young gay man, toured the neighborhood and talked both with the businesses that have shaped and changed the area and the people who have seen how the rising costs and changing the population are impacting the most vulnerable. Among those interviewed also include Kylon Hooks, one of the emcees from last year’s Mr. International Rubber contest. Hooks works as a social worker serving LGBTQ youth who still flock to the neighborhood.

So instead of a superficial look at food, we get a interesting look at the changing face of they gay community. Well worth the watch.
