DOMA repeal entered in Congress

From Equality Illinois:

Earlier today, members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate introduced the Respect for Marriage Act, a bill that would repeal the discriminatory so-called Defense of Marriage Act (“DOMA”). Passage of the Respect for Marriage Act would restore the rights of all lawfully married couple—including same-sex couples—to receive the benefits of marriage under federal law.  The purpose of this legislation is to require the federal government to equally apply its policy of looking to the states in determining what legal relationships is eligible for federal benefits.
