Armando Pedroso

Pedroso’s artistic career had unconventional beginnings. After September 11, 2001, he was laid off from his corporate sales job of 18 years. It was at that time he thought he heard a voice within himself, telling him to paint. He had never painted before, so heeding this calling was admittedly strange. But he gave over all his future corporate energies to become a self-taught artist.

Pedroso deconstructs and reconstructs layers of roofing tar, plaster, found objects, metals, symbols, rich acrylic colors to create inspirational and emotionally driven paintings. Sometimes playful, gritty or with an urban feel, Pedroso’ paintings capture the essence of what an individual’s dream might look like if inspired to take that leap of faith.

His work has been shown in the following spaces: The William Scott Gallery, Boston & Provincetown; Coconut Grove Gallery, Miami; Gallery 344, Kalamazoo, MI; The Leigh Gallery, Chicago; and Portarossa Design Studios, San Francisco.

Jason Messinger

The art of Jason Messinger explores the boundary between identity and abstraction. His artwork is certain in its aesthetic quality, yet open in its intrinsic meaning. The artist’s ink and watercolor paintings on cold-pressed, heavyweight watercolor paper reimagine the natural world into patterns and diagrams of movement and color, light and gesture. Additionally, Messinger is known for his signature ceramic tile murals and sculpture.

A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he has been a Chicago resident since 1985, and a full-time professional artist since 1995. Messinger has work in private, corporate, and public collections throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. He has received numerous awards for his artwork and been recognized in juried shows across the country.

Messinger’s studio at the Cornelia Arts Building in Chicago is open to the public by appointment. In addition to being an artist, he curates group shows of local artists and writes critical reviews of art, non-fiction essays, and fantasy fiction. He maintains three blogs and two web sites, and has his work showcased on numerous artist’s gallery sites.
