The Chicago Casual Traveler: Indiana Welcome Center, Hammond, IN (Lake County)

Destination of the Day: Indiana Welcome Center, Hammond, IN (Lake County)
See a welcome center done right! In one complex is a staffed welcome center (with materials for destinations around Indiana), a special exhibit hall (now presenting Cars and Quilts), and the John Dillinger Museum. The architecture is a nice change from the nearby fast food restaurant and mid-priced hotels. Already scheduled for November 2011 is the “A Christmas Story Comes Home Exhibit”.
