Center on Halsted announce December events


CHICAGO — The Center on Halsted, Chicago’s LGBT community and resource center, has announced it’s events for the end of November and all of December.

We’re Still Here: HIV/AIDS Then & Now World AIDS Day Event – November 30th, 2016

Wednesday, November 30, 2016
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Center on Halsted

Join us for an HIV/AIDS Arts and Cultural Impact Panel discussion with Art AIDS America Chicago co-curator Jonathan Katz, Director of Exhibitions Tony Hirschel, Victory Gardens Theater Artistic Director Chay Yew, and playwright Karen Hartman, followed by QUEER, ILL, + OKAY performances by Phillip Blacknbrilliant, Joan Giroux, and a short film by Xena Ellison + Elizabeth Mputu.

Center on Halsted HIV staff will be present to conduct HIV Testing and assist individuals in creating red ribbons to commemorate World AIDS Day.

Free and Open to the Public.

Santa Speedo Run – Boystown – December 3rd, 2016

Better yet, take it off – when you run with us this December for our holiday-themed fun run around boystown. The Santa Speedo Run – Boystown is more than an excuse to hang out your holiday decorations – it’s also a huge party that raises money for Center on Halsted’s Youth Housing Initiative.

Our work is not over and we heard from you all that we need to continue to provide space so that your ideas can grow into actions.

We encourage organic growth and movement in your groups over the coming days, weeks, and months, but are committed to offering routine space to come together.
