A Night With Oscar at the Center on Halsted


CHICAGO – Center on Halsted is preparing to unroll that red carpet once more, bringing the fun back to Center on Halsted at 3656 N Halsted St. On Sunday, February 26, 2017, Center on Halsted will host A Night with Oscar, an Academy Awards viewing party. For over 10 years, this event has been a staple of Center on Halsted, bringing together community members to enjoy the Academy Awards while raising vital funds for the organization. What began as a party held at the home of a donor, A Night with Oscar has grown to become one of the most memorable Center on Halsted events, and one of the largest viewing parties in Chicagoland.

This year Center on Halsted welcomes donors, patrons and supporters to the annual benefit to enjoy the 2017 89th Academy Awards telecast in a fun, festive, and fabulous atmosphere. In 2016, A Night with Oscar was attended by over 300 individuals and raised more than $80,000 to support the many programs and services at Center on Halsted. Returning to Center on Halsted, the 3rd floor of the community center will be transformed into a fabulous screening room and party area. Green Level tickets offer a space for radiant red carpet revelers and is a sparkling and lavishly grand celebration of music and fabulous fare while the excitement of the Academy Awards streams live on nearby monitors. Gold Level tickets are for diehard viewers and movie aficionados. Pop a cork of champagne at your private cabaret table and enjoy concession treats while the Academy Awards streams live on the big screen. Toast the radiant red carpet revelers in the sparkling Green Room party for a lavishly grand celebration of music, fabulous fare, craft cocktails and concoctions, while the excitement of the Academy Awards streams live on nearby monitors. It’s A Night with Oscar that you won’t forget!

“This year we’re not only celebrating the Academy Awards, but inviting the community back into our Center to witness the daily impact we have on the LGBTQ community,” commented Modesto “Tico” Valle, Center on Halsted CEO. “I’m even more excited to be joined by our community sponsors, without whom Center on Halsted would not be able to continue offering its essential services to the LGBTQ Chicagoland area. This event is testament that our community can come together in a social environment while still impacting change.”

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for a red carpet arrival, courtesy of Mini of Chicago, with the awards screening beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets range from $100 to $150, with each ticket including a complimentary champagne welcome, buffet dinner, silent auction, raffle drawing, and a chance to win a Predict-the-Winner contest. Silent auction items include extravagant vacation packages, bar and restaurant certificates, theater and sports tickets, gym memberships and much, much more! The Emcee for the evening is NBC correspondent Natalie Martinez with special guest Kinley Preston. Entertainment includes DJ All the Way Kay with engagement with performance troupe SADHAUS.

On the Red Carpet is co-chaired by Alexander DeHilster, Courtney Jackson, Franco LaMarca, and Joe Betancourt. This year’s event is presented by Mini of Chicago and the National Equity Fund. Other sponsors include J&J Exhibitors Service, Kehoe Designs, Alderman Joe Moreno, MillerCoors, Stoli, and American Airlines.
