CHICAGO — The famed custom leather and apparel shop, Leather64TEN, kicked off their third year for Mr. Leather 64TEN 2017. TJ Howard is the third titleholder, and second contest winner, for Mr. Leather64TEN.
The contest kicked off on Friday, March 3, with the “Pre-Lube Meet and Greet”, Opening Ceremonies that were hosted and Emceed by Teri Yaki, and the first round of Contestant Interviews.
Saturday, March 4th started with a second round of contestant interviews. Saturday afternoon also included the “Dirty Boys and Danishes Brunch”, the newest addition to the contest weekend. In the evening was the main event, which included three grueling categories: Cruise Wear/Serious Question, Formal Leatherwear/90-second Speech, and Whole Package/Funny Question. Originally introducing five contestants, the final contest was narrowed down to four. Immediately following the announcement of Tj Howard as the winner, Jackhammer hosted the Men’s Room After Party.
The contest weekend continued Sunday, March 5, with STUDIO 64 presents COTTON CLAD T-Dance, a throwback party including classic dance anthems and disco music. Jackhammer also hosted a BEAR NAKED party.
Sponsors for the event included Great Lakes Den and Illinois Eagle as media sponsors, as well as CLAW, the Leather Archives and Museum, Überlube, Jackhammer, Touché, and Rough Trade Gear.
TJ Howard will go on to represent Chicago as Mr. Leather64TEN 2017 in International Mister Leather 39, held in Chicago over Memorial Day weekend, May 24-29 2017.
