Gorilla Tango’s “Assault on the Grindhouse…” sends up drive-in movies

CHICAGO — Not just another Mystery Science Theater inspired Riff-show! “Assault on the Grindhouse: An Interactive Improv Horror Comedy Experience” is a total reconstruction of the best (worst) and brightest (bloodiest) films from days gone by.

“Assault on the Grindhouse: An Interactive Improv Horror Comedy Experience” performs Thursdays at 9:30pm, through June 29, 2017, at Gorilla Tango Theatre (1919 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago IL 60647). Please visit www.gorillatango.com or call 773-598-4549 for tickets and more information.

“Assault on the Grindhouse…” is an interactive horror comedy improv experience like you’ve never seen before. Each week, GT will take one classic horror/cult film and reinvent it using the talent of three improv artists and one foley artist/musician , who will recreate the films dialogue, sound effects, and score as it plays on the screen behind them. Titles include ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES, UNDERTAKER AND HIS PALS, and THE KILLER SHREWS, and more!

Assault on the Grindhouse is directed by Matt Storc, writer/director of the recently released feature film horror/comedy TAKE BACK THE KNIFE. Matt is a filmmaker based out of Chicago whose feature and short films have played at festivals around the country. His short film PHOBIA was selected as one of the 8 “Shorts to Die For” by After Dark Films in 2009. He is also a contributing writer and hosts events around town for HorrorSociety.com. As Matt describes it, “If a funny shadowcast ran off with their own plot during a midnight screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show it would be something less bizarre than Assault on the Grindhouse.”
