CHICAGO — The Leather Archives and Museum (LA&M) Executive Director Search Committee reports the process for naming the next Executive Director is progressing as planned. In June 2017, following 15 years as LA&M Executive Director, Rick Storer pursued new opportunities with another Chicago non-profit organization. “The Board has been quick to develop and implement a comprehensive process to recruit, screen, interview, and appoint our next Executive Director, said Bob Behr, Acting President of the LA&M Board. “The most important decision we as a Board can make is the hiring of the Executive Director. I am impressed with the process and progress of the search,” Behr continued.
Serving in the role as Board Treasurer and Search Committee Member, Harry Harkins commented, “The quality of candidates that applied thus far reassures me that the LA&M is in good hands for the next generation of the Archives’ future.”
Qualified applicants are encouraged to submit their resume and cover letter prior to October 15. Complete job description and search process can be found at: http://www.leatherarchives.org/hiring.html.
Randall “Bear Man” Klett, Search Committee Chairperson said, “The coming weeks and months are a very exciting time for the LA&M. There is a solid depth and breadth of top tier of applicants and I look forward to what the next two weeks of additional applications will bring.” Candidate screening will take place the week of October 15, with initial interviews taking place the last week of October. Finalists will be invited to participate in an on-site visit and interview in mid-November. Bear Man further explained, “The on-site interview is critical in our selection process. This is an opportunity for each of our finalists to spend time meeting with members, donors, staff, volunteers, and the Board of Directors. This is their chance to share their vision and passion of how they intend to lead the LA&M while serving the leather, kink, BDSM, and fetish communities.”
An offer of employment is anticipated following Board approval on Nov. 20 with an anticipated start date on or before Jan. 1, 2018.
