SPRINGFIELD — The Phoenix Center, the LGBTQ community center for central Illinois, will hold a Transgender 101 class series for those wanting to be supportive of transgender friends and family.
From the Facebook event:
This class has been created for all of those people who call and want to learn more about being transgender. They might have a family member, a co-worker, a neighbor or friend who identifies as transgender and they want to better be able to support and be an ally. The training will include terminology, a discussion of social and medical transitioning, and ideas of what you can do to make your environment (home, work, school, business) more LGBT inclusive.
