ROCKFORD — PFLAG Rockford Chapter will be giving people a chance release their frustrations for National Coming Out Day on Thursday, Oct. 11.
From their Facebook event:
Have you ever been so frustrated you just want to smash something? As we know, coming out can be a joyous occasion! Although, this is not the case for everyone. Many folks face fears of discrimination, loss of work, loss of housing, relationships may even be at stake.
We have partnered with the Shatter Zone for National Coming Out Day! They provide a safe, controlled environment where you can break objects to help you unwind. You can smash glass, furniture and even electronics using bats, crowbars or other objects. If you want to just chuck something at the walls, you can do that, too!
This event is $25 per person. You must register ahead of time with Phyllis Gallisath here on Facebook or send an email to [email protected].
You must be at least 18 years of age to participate.
Join us to smash the fear of coming out and show our support of those who may not feel safe at this time to come out.
You can smash away at Shatterzone at 532 Windsor Road in Loves Park. The smashing begins at 6 p.m.
