DECATUR — The LGBTQ community and allies in Decatur came out on Sunday to protest the proposed federal policy that would define gender by genitalia, potentially erasing transgender and intersex people from consideration by the government.
The rally was organized by Decatur residents was organized by August Francis and Jonathon Reed.
The Herald-Review of Decatur reported that 50 people came to the rally at the Macon County Courthouse. The attendees marched from the courthouse to Transfer House in Central Park.
The rally is the latest in Illinois to protest the policy, following another rally in Bloomington and another one coming up tomorrow in Normal.
