PEORIA — Peoria Pridefest is starting the planning for next year’s event with a meeting this Saturday, Dec. 8.

From Peoria Pridefest’s Facebook post:

One Voice, your Central Illinois LGBT Alliance is trying to plan Peoria Pridefest 2019, and we need engaged and energetic PEOPLE to make that happen! I won’t sugar-coat our needs…and we NEED to get moving on this NOW.

So here’s the facts:
…We have a meeting scheduled at the WTVP 47 Studios on State St. this coming Saturday December 8 at 2:00pm. We NEED to have a quorum of representatives from each member association present to conduct ANY business; frankly, a lack of quorum and footwork folks to help us with securing sponsorships for the event is the reason Pridefest 2018 was cancelled…
Fortunately, we still have a good plan and framework in place for the event from our 2018 efforts.

What we need from the community:
1). We need a voting representative from each of the alliance groups to be present at each and every meeting.
2). We need additional people from each of the alliance groups who are willing to do pre-planning and day-of legwork for this event to become a reality and to be successful enough to make it an ongoing annual event.
3). We need vendors, business and corporate sponsors.
4). We need to elect a new chairperson and co-chairperson as our current chairperson’s term has expired, and the current co-chairperson (me) is currently acting chairperson.

Our LGBT ?️‍? Alliance members ARE (in alphabetical order):
* Acorn Equality Fund
* Caterpillar LAMBDA
* Central Illinois Business Association
* Central Illinois Friends
* Central Illinois Pride Health Center
* Peoria Area LGBTQ+ Outings and Events
* Planned Parenthood
* Peoria Proud
* Peoria TransGender Society
* River City Bears

Unfortunately, several of these alliances have not had a voting representative present at our meetings in quite some time. We need a voting representative from each of these groups at our December 8th meeting, and every meeting thereafter to assure a quorum to conduct business and for your alliance to continue being a recognized member of One Voice.

A quorum is a majority of the board, which means we cannot conduct official business if we have less than 6 voting representatives present.
