New Pride event planned for downtown Chicago


CHICAGO — A new Pride event, Pride in the Park, is planned for this summer during Chicago’s Pride celebrations.

The event will be held at Grant Park in downtown Chicago as a one-day music festival. According to a press release, Pride in the Park is an addition to the 50th anniversary celebrations of the city’s Pride Parade.

The organizers said in the release that a portion of all proceeds will be donated to the Center on Halsted with additional contributions to Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago by volunteers from Stonewall Sports Chicago.

General admission tickets will start at $50 and VIP tickets start at $100. Kids under 11 will be admitted
without a ticket but must be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult, with a limit of two kids per adult.
Pride in the Park Chicago will run from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Butler Field in Grant Park.

The line up of performers include headliners Iggy Azalea and Steve Aoki with featured performers Tamar Braxton, Taylor Dane, Todrick Hall, Kathy Sledge, Coco Montrese, Alexis Michelle, and Shea Coulee.
