BLOOMINGTON — The Stonewall Democrats of McLean County have changed their name to Stonewall Democrats of Illinois to reflect their statewide efforts.

The Stonewall Democrats are an organization of LGBTQ activists within the Democrat Party.

The group made the announcement in a Facebook post on Thursday:

Stonewall Democrats of McLean County is…….transitioning!

This page is now called Stonewall Democrats of Illinois! We are joining forces with LGBT Democrats from across Illinois to build a statewide Stonewall Democrats! It’s crazy Illinois does not have a Stonewall Democrats organization to join Indiana, New York and so many other states.

So there’s a slight change to our logo. There are rings of the rainbow and Trans flag colors and a ring of the Democrat blue. In the center of the rings is the blue letter D, which is the symbol for the Democratic Party and in the center of the D is the shape of the state of Illinois.

Thanks to the LGBT Democrats around Illinois who have reached out to say they would like to take the seeds planted here in McLean County and grow even bigger and stronger to win in 2020!!!

Thank you most of all to the McLean County Democrats who gave LGBT Democrats a place to plant seeds here in the Heartland.
