KANSAS CITY — Police have identified 32-year-old Brooklyn Lindsey as the transgender woman found Tuesday.
Lindsay was found on the porch of an abandoned home. Police told local media that showed obvious signs of trauma but the cause of death was not immediately clear.
Neighbors told CBS affiliate KCTV Lindsey had been badly beaten before they heard gunshots. Police are investigating.
The TV station said that a trans woman was murdered just a block away from the abandoned in 2015. She had been run over by a car.
There is no suspect information at this time. KCTV said anyone with information is urged to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
Lindsay is the 11th transgender woman of color killed in 2019 in the U.S.
