PAXTON — This town of 4,300 held its first Pride celebration on Sunday, June 30, joining almost 20 other Illinois communities holding Pride.

The small town in Eastern Illinois is also the smallest city in Illinois and one of the smallest in the country to hold Pride. With the small size, the event was a march along city sidewalks instead of a large parade or park festival.

The Ford County Record reported that 169 people from 20 communities around Paxton came for the March.
