River City Pride opens nominations for Pride Community Awards

PEORIA — River City Pride, organizers of Peoria’s Pride celebrations, has opened nominations for the Pride Community Awards.

From their Facebook post:

NOMINATIONS ARE OPEN! Please take a minute to nominate your favorite LBGBTQ+ businesses, leaders, volunteers, arts and entertainers for the 2019 RCPride Awards! Award nominations will be accepted through July 21st at Midnight! Recipients will be voted upon by the members of One Voice and presented at the festival on August 3rd.

People can make nominations through this Google document.

The Wade Leadership Award recognizes an individual in the central Illinois community who is making strides within the LGBTQ community to represent the area and service provision both in and outside of Peoria.

The Grayeb Champion of Affirming Education Award recognizes an individual in the central Illinois community who demonstrates excellence, expertise, achievement and advocacy in the field of education for any age.

The Equality Plays in Peoria Leadership Award recognizes an individual, group, or business in Peoria that has excelled in teaching, service, or scholarship and fosters diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The River City Pride Business Award recognizes a locally-owned business in Central Illinois that is supportive of the LGBTQ community.

The River City Pride Arts and Entertainment Award recognizes artists and local studios who support diversity in the arts through their craft.
