MILWAUKEE — Christina King of Galesburg will represent Illinois at the Miss Trans USA pageant in Milwaukee in September.

Samuel RosenMayer will represent the state for the Mr. Trans USA title.

According to the pageant website, the Trans USA pageantry system was created by Gerardo Chavez and Luis Perez of Wisconsin.

Chavez wanted to create a platform that would stimulate the community as a whole with a focus on trans visibility. His aspiration is that his hard work would be followed by community action. This is when he and his husband created what is now known as the Mr. & Miss Trans USA pageant.

The Mr. & Miss Trans USA pageant is held annually in Wisconsin. The national pageant features trans men and women.

This year’s event will be held at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts at 123 E. State in Milwaukee. The contest is on Saturday, Sept. 21. Tickets have not yet been released for sale.
