URBANA — “RuPaul’s Drag Race” alum Sasha Velour will be performing at Urbana’s Krannert Center on Saturday, Sept. 14.
Krannert said on its website that tickets are being offered at no cost to the general public and are available now. Seating will be general admission throughout the venue with a limit of two tickets per patron. Tickets will only be available in-person at the Krannert Center Ticket Office (500 South Goodwin Avenue, Urbana) and by phone at (217)333-6280 or (800) KRANTIX (572-6849). Tickets will not be available online but will be distributed via mobile ticketing, mail, or Ticket Office pick-up.
The center said that patrons must by in their seats by 7:50 p.m. the day of the performance to ensure availability. There will be a waiting list if all tickets are claimed. The list will expire Friday, September 13 at 10 a.m., but people can contact the office for any last minute returns.
Velour’s visit, a CAS/MillerComm2020 series event, is part of the University of Illinois campuswide celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots and the beginning of the LGBTQ community civil rights movement, and the Spurlock Museum’s exhibit of drag costumes entitled “In Her Closet: How to Make a Drag Queen,” which opens on Sunday, September 15.
Presented by Krannert Center for the Performing Arts in collaboration with Center for Advanced Study, College of Fine and Applied Arts, Illinois Theatre, Spurlock Museum, Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities, Lorado Taft Fund, Siebel Center for Design, and the Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center.
