WASHINGTON — U.S. Reps. Bill Foster (D-Naperville) and Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Schaumburg) both announced their support for an impeachment inquiry of Trump this week.
“I have watched with horror as President Trump has perpetrated an assault on American values,” Foster said in a statement. “In word and deed, President Trump has demonstrated an utter disregard for the rule of law and the fundamental principles that make up the foundation of our democracy.
“The Mueller report details several occasions – at least ten – where President Trump took actions to obstruct the Special Counsel’s investigation into Russian interference in our 2016 elections.
“Our Constitution vests Congress with the unique obligation to perform oversight of the federal government, including of the President and his administration. Under our system of checks and balances, no person – not even the President – should be above the law or immune from facing the consequences of their actions.”
Krishnamoorthi also cited the Mueller Report in his decision to support the inquiry.
“Last week, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler requested evidence collected so far by my committees for the purpose of the ongoing impeachment investigation, which is essentially an impeachment inquiry,” said Krishnamoorthi. “I fully support Chairman Nadler’s investigation.
“Where this investigation leads, we cannot know at this time. Regardless of the outcome, I support Chairman Nadler’s impeachment investigation conducted in accordance with the Constitution. Further, I will continue my efforts in my congressional committees to support the process as well as discover and expose wrongdoing wherever it exists. Our Constitution and our country’s future require nothing less.”
Other Illinois representatives supporting an inquiry include:
- Sean Casten (D-Downers Grove)
- Danny Davis (D-Chicago)
- Chuy Garcia (D-Chicago)

- Bobby Rush (D-Chicago)
