CEDAR RAPIDS — LGBTQ Presidential Forum organizers have released an online question form to solicit questions from LGBTQ individuals in the heartland.

Moderators at the LGBTQ Presidential Forum on Sept. 20 will pose a select number of questions received through the form to candidates on stage.

“This is the first ever presidential forum focused specifically on LGBTQ issues in the heartland, and it’s only right that LGBTQ people living and working in the region have the opportunity to question the candidates,” One Iowa Executive Director Dan Royer said. “Every member of our community should take ownership of this historic moment, and we’re excited to see what questions LGBTQ people have for the individuals vying for our country’s highest office.”

The event organizers encourage all LGBTQ people in the heartland to submit questions, even if they do not have tickets to the forum. The online question form can be found here: Questions must be submitted before 12 p.m. on Thursday, September 19 to be considered.

The forum will be held at Coe College’s Sinclair Auditorium at 7 p.m. CST. The venue is at capacity. A YouTube livestream of the event will be available to the public here:

Local LGBTQ activists across Iowa and the United States have built a network of community watch parties. A map and list of all confirmed watch parties can be found on One Iowa’s website here: The list is not final, and watch party locations will be continually added until September 20. Watch parties listed on the site are open to the public and members of the press.
