CHICAGO — Chicago State University has announced the opening of its new LGBTQ+ Resource Center.
According to the center’s website, the mission is “to create a community that is welcoming, inclusive, and supportive of people of all sexualities and gender identities. We focus our efforts on advocacy, increasing education, access, retention, identity development, and community building for queer- and trans-spectrum people.”
The center lists LGBTQ resources in both the north and south sides of Chicago, as well as statewide organizations such as Equality Illinois.
The resource center has organized events through out the Fall 2019 semester and has worked to help create safe zones throughout CSU’s campus on the Chicago south side.
