CHICAGO — The Lighthouse Foundation will be holding its next caucus meeting at the Lighthouse Church of Chicago UCC on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

From the Facebook event:

Join us for our Lighthouse Foundation caucus meetings.

These meetings are open to people who identify as Black and LGBTQ+. We ask that neither Center on Halsted staff nor BOD members attend Foundation meetings*.

*Lighthouse Foundation has named as its latest organizing focus the Center on Halsted CEO Modesto “Tico” Valle, for his employment of Walsh Security at the Center. To be clear, our issue is not with rank and file Center on Halsted staff, who work tirelessly to serve the community [despite his POC staff turnover]. However, one purpose of our organizing meetings is to provide those impacted by Valle’s policies at the Center with an environment where they feel free to speak to their concerns, fears, and hopes. While we will meet with COH leaders in the future, at this time, we ask COH staff and members of its Board of Directors not to attend Foundation meetings.

RSVP by using the (free) ticket link on the Facebook event.

The Lighthouse Foundation is a non-sectarian, non-profit organization that addresses the needs and advances justice for Black LGBTQ people throughout Chicagoland.
