ELGIN — Elgin will host its first Pride Parade and festival this June 6.

From the Facebook event page:

We are really excited to be planning the first Pride Parade and Festival in Elgin, IL! Our goals are to provide a safe, inclusive, family-friendly environment accessible to all who would like to attend in the downtown area of Elgin. We hope to spread the word on how amazing and welcoming Elgin is, and unite and uplift our local community!

We invite you to join us June 6th, 2020 for the main parade and festival. We will also have events happening around the city spanning the entire weekend and month, including an art show, documentary screening with a panel discussion, queer karaoke, dance nights, PRIDE concert, interfaith church service, community bike ride, a Rainbow Reading Event, and more!

We have a wonderful team of volunteers and community members working together to make this an amazing month, and we need your help to make it spectacular! We are seeking donations, sponsors, parade groups, and vendors!
If you are interested in contributing, please visit www.elginpride.com/donate .
We are very thankful to have Open Door Health Center of Elgin (a registered non-profit 501c3) acting as our fiscal agent for this first year, so all contributions are tax deductible.

We are also currently seeking LGBTQ+ bands/musicians to submit for our queer music showcase at the festival! More info can be found at www.elginpride.com/music.

We will be releasing a zine at the festival and hope to elevate queer voices and artists! Submit your art or creative writing at www.elginpride.com/zine.

More information on volunteer opportunities coming soon.
