Illinois records first COVID-19 death


CHICAGO — The state of Illinois announced the first death from COVID-19 in the state during the daily press conference.

The person who died is a woman in her 60s in the Chicago area who had been in contact with someone else who had coronavirus, according to Dr. Ngozi Ezike, director of the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Ezike said that 160 people in 15 counties in the state have been identified with coronavirus. She also said that a long-term care facility in DuPage County had an outbreak of the virus.

The press conference was broadcast live and livestreamed.
