LGBTQ closures and cancellations in Illinois for coronavirus

CHICAGO — Here are some of the closings and event cancellations that we’ve told about.

In Buffalo Grove, a drag brunch set for April 5 has been cancelled.

Youth Outlook, in the Fox Valley and outer Chicago suburbs, has closed their drop-in center, but they are working on creating a virtual space for people to meet.

The Saluki Rainbow Network, at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, the May 1 drag show has been cancelled.

The University of Illinois LGBT Resource Center in Champaign said that the Lavender Congratulatory for this year’s graduates has been cancelled, as has the university’s graduation ceremony. They will be working on a way to recognize 2020 Lavender graduates.

The Clock Inc. LGBTQ Community Center in Rock Island is cancelling their planned Game Night for March 21 and all community support groups until March 30.

Steamworks in Chicago has announced that they will be closing for the next 15 days.
