CHICAGO — International Mr. Leather (IML) announced Friday that they had secured a new date for the annual event, September 24-27, 2020.

Normally, IML takes place over Memorial Day weekend. Like many other LGBTQ events across the country, it has had to postpone this year’s event because of coronavirus.

“After considerable effort and work, The IML Organization has secured new dates and agreements to hold IML/IMBB 2020,” organizers said in a website statement. “It comes with some uncertainty as we still do not know what the pandemic will bring in the next few months and if State and Local governments will continue to restrict large gatherings. That being said, we want IML/IMBB to happen in 2020 as we believe having our annual family reunion will be an important healing and return to normalcy for our leather community.”

IML is usually one of the largest conventions in Chicago and the largest indoor leather event in the country.

The Congress Plaza Hotel will continue as the host hotel. Reservations for the new dates will open on May 1, 2020. After that date, you can call the hotel directly at (312) 427-3800 to transfer existing reservations to the new dates or cancel if you won’t be able to attend. New reservations can also be made after May 1.

A new schedule of events will be announced in early June. Weekend packages go on sale on July 1.
