Lilly Wachowski reads Ivanka, Elon Musk after ‘red pill’ tweet

CHICAGO — Lilly Wachowski, co-creator of The Matrix franchise, was not pleased when Elon Musk, billionaire and coronavirus “hoaxer,” tweeted that people should take the “red pill.”

Musk had tweeted out “take the red pill” about the shutdowns and shelter-in-place orders that are being loosened right now. Ivanka Trump felt the need to respond with “Taken!”

“Red pill” is a phrased used by conspiracy theorists. In The Matrix, a red pill was taken to waken from the computer world and into the real world. So the theorists use the phrase to say they’re “awake.” It’s especially popular among the far-right wing.

Wachowski dropped an f-bomb on both of them.

Wachowski, and her sister Lana, are both transgender. They are also most definitely not right wing.

She then followed up with a call for people to donate to Brave Space Alliance, a trans-led community center and service organization on the Chicago south side. The Wachowskis are also Chicago natives.

And if you are able, definitely donate to Brave Space Alliance
