CHICAGO — Equality Illinois is hosting an online, statewide Pride celebration since events across the state have been cancelled or delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
From the Facebook event:
In light of COVID-19, Pride 2020 will not look as we had imagined, but we are still a community, and we will still show our Pride!
On Saturday, June 13, Equality Illinois will host Illinois’ first Statewide Pride. The theme of the Virtual Pride event will be “Can’t Stop Our Pride: One Day ● One Illinois.” This virtual event will be broadcast on Equality Illinois’ YouTube channel from Noon until 5PM and will feature elected leaders, community leaders, performers, chefs, activists, and many others.
We will continue to honor the legacy of the 1969 Stonewall riots and the 50+ years of LGBTQ activism and celebration that they inspired. This broadcast will offer LGBTQ Illinoisans and our allies inspiration, entertainment, and solidarity.
