DECATUR — The organizers of Decatur’s Pride Fest announced late Wednesday that they were cancelling the event for 2020.

In a Facebook post, Decatur Pride stated they were cancelling this year’s festival due to coronavirus concerns.

From Facebook:

Hello guys, gals, and non-binary pals! We were putting off this unfortunate announcement until the very last minute in hopes that the state of things would work in our favor and in the favor of everyone’s health & safety, but it’s not looking that way. Due to the continued threat COVID-19 poses to our community and communities all around the world, there will be no Pride Fest held on September 12th, 2020. We brainstormed and waited and brainstormed and waited some more hoping we could find a way to still celebrate, but the well-being of our attendees is more important to us than anything else.

While we all do our best to sit tight while this thing passes, all of us here at Decatur Pride will be making big plans for 2021.

Stay safe, wear a mask, and we’ll see you next year!
