Illinois sees drop in new coronavirus cases
SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) on Monday reported 4,699 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 98 additional deaths.
The number is the first time in weeks the number of new cases has been below 6,000.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 905,069 cases, including 15,299 deaths. As of Sunday night, 4,460 in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 981 patients were in the ICU and 546 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from Dec. 14 – Dec. 20, 2020 is 7.5%. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from Dec. 14 – Dec. 20, 2020 is 9.3%.
