Bost signs House GOP statement opposing election results

MURPHYSBORO — U.S. Rep. Mike Bost (R-Murphysboro) has added his name to a statement from 37 House Republicans objecting to accepting the results of the Electoral College vote.

The statement was released on Wednesday morning. The statement was posted on the website for Blaine Luetkemeyer, a GOP House member from Missouri. It wasn’t, however, referenced on Bost’s own website or his Facebook page.

The statement said the representatives who had signed on had also filed an amicus brief in December seeking to overturn the 2020 election results from four battleground states.

Mary Miller (R-Oakland), a freshman representative in John Shimkus’s old seat, has already said she would object to the results.

Rodney Davis (R-Taylorville), whose district stretches across much of central Illinois, told the News-Gazette in Champaign that he would not object to the Electoral College votes.
