SPRINGFIELD — The Log Cabin Republicans of Illinois (LCRI) have been very silent since the riot at the U.S. Capitol. In fact, they’ve been quiet since November.
The LCRI is a group of LGBTQ Republicans. In the past four years, both the state and national chapters have been vocal supporters of Trump, including endorsing him for the 2020 election. But now they’ve been pretty quiet.
LGBTQ Nation reported that Twitter accounts for both the national group and its spokesperson Charles Moran had said nothing about the insurrection.
The Illinois chapter has its own site, Facebook page and Twitter account. However, a quick check showed there hasn’t been a post on either since November 21, 2020, when they cancelled a holiday party over coronavirus restrictions.
Their website is currently down, with a note saying working to publish an updated website.
The current chapter is only two years old, being a reboot after the previous state chapter closed down.
