Arlington Heights church has Pride flag stolen – again

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS — The First United Methodists Church has had their Pride flag stolen – for the sixth time within the past half year.

On Wednesday, Jan. 6, the Arlington Heights Police Department said it was investigating a series of incidents between the end of November and end of December. In a community alert, it said that an unknown person had at damaged the flag on four separate occasions, all overnight and on different days of the week.

In their weekly newsletter, the church said these incidents brought the number of times the flag had been damaged or stolen to six times in the past six months.

In response, the church is holding a Pride Parade in Lights. Between 4:45 and 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 17, community members are invited to a foot parade around the church and Methodist Park. Details for the parade are available at https://www.fumcah.com/events/pride-parade-in-lights.

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call the Arlington Heights Police at (847) 368-5300.
