U.S. Rep. Marie Newman (D-La Grange) decided to have a little fun with her office building neighbor Majorie Tayler Greene (R-Georgia).
Greene has been very vocal in… well, everything. On Wednesday, she tried to have the House adjourn to prevent a vote on the Equality Act. In a tweet, she said the act “expands governmental regulatory reach that destroys women’s rights, religious rights, and rights of the unborn.” She has attacked the LGBTQ community, especially transgender people, in interviews and statements, but also with legislation aimed at the LGBTQ community. ProjectQ in Georgia has a long list.
Newman, who like Green is a freshman representative, has a different view on the Equality Act. She’s a co-sponsor for it. She has a transgender daughter. And their offices are also across the hall from each other.
In a video posted to Twitter, the camera sweeps from the door to Greene’s office to Newman put up a trans pride flag next to her own door. And while her mask covers it, we’re pretty sure Newman was giving a very smart-ass grin to Greene’s office.
