A coalition of LGBTQ groups is hosting a event to let transgender and nonbinary people to get dresses for prom season.

Kara and Kaylee's Kloset, in partnership with Friends Like Us youth group, Prairie Pride Coalition, and TransPARENT support group present a gender expansive and transgender-friendly prom dress shopping event. Kara and Kaylee's Kloset is a non-profit Dress Donation Program run by Roxanne Hartrich in honor of her 4 yr old Angel Princess Kara Hartrich and little sis Kaylee. They loan free dresses in exchange for volunteer work or acts of service. Dress and financial donations are accepted, but not expected or required. We will have the whole store reserved from 12:00-6:00pm for gender expansive and transgender youth to try on and borrow dresses for prom. There will be safe adults there to assist with your shopping experience, but you can also set up a private time to shop if this date doesn't work for you, message or call Roxanne Hartrich directly at 309-532-1455 Email Jackie Gunderson at email@example.com with any questions. No need to make a reservation in advance, stop in anytime. Masks will be required while we are there.
Kara & Kaylee’s Kloset is at 369 Wylie Dr., Ste. 710, in Normal. The event goes from 12 to 6 p.m., Sunday, April 18. The event is free and open to the public.
