COVID-19 has prevented Pride Prom in most communities, as well as proms in general, throughout 2020. Yet Pride Prom is important to many people, as it gives them the opportunity and event to formally dress up in an affirming way and have same-sex partners, without fear of bullying. That’s why the Rainbow Café LGBTQ Center is hosting a virtual Pride Prom via their Discord server.

Rainbow Cafe’s Pride Prom is Saturday, May 29, from 6 pm to 12 am, including after-prom activities. The event is free and all ages, accessible via Discord.

While it may feel silly to dress up for a virtual event, a lot of queer and trans people haven’t had a good reason to dress up in an affirming way in over a year, so dress up. Prize for the best dressed.

Throughout the night, there will be games through Jackbox, music, and a streamed drag show performance.

After the main event, the Rainbow Café will stream The Prom (2020), a musical comedy surrounding a girl wanting to take another girl to prom in a small, conservative town in Indiana.
