Carbondale’s Rainbow Cafe LGBTQ Youth Center is holding their annual gala on Saturday, Oct. 2. For the second year, it will be virtual.
The gala is the community center’s biggest annual fundraiser. Last year’s virtual event raised $5,500.
The gala has always held a silent auction. And like last year, this year’s auction is online. This year’s auction items include artwork, jewelry, furniture and even a house concert by local musicians Curt Wilson and Rick Droit. Bids are being taken now on the auction website. More than $4,500 has already been raised through the auction.
Cristaudos is catering the gala reception dinner. Pick-up location for the reception dinner will be curbside at Carbondale Unitarian Fellowship on Oct. 2 between 5pm and 6pm. There will be local performers, musicians and Rainbow Cafe Board Members handing out reception dinners.
The Rainbow Cafe has created a “step-n-repeat” outside of Carbondale Unitarian Fellowship for photo opportunities with the SOIL Sisters, an aspirant house of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, with a donation box to help the center reach their goal of finding a permanent home. The pick-up and Sisters will be video recorded and livestreamed on Rainbow Cafe’s Facebook page.
