Miss Pickles The Drag Pug, Dog of 2021

Happy New Year! I hope your 2021 was at least marginally better than 2020. If not, here’s hoping that 2022 is better than 2021.

If you haven’t heard of the Instagram Famous Miss Pickles, @miss.picklesthepug, get ready to meet the new queen of 2021. Miss Pickles, a Canadian pug dressed in drag by her human mother has gained 54.k followers. Although she is known for her incredible fashion sense, that is not the only great work she has done. She has also used her platform to raise funds for great LGBTQ+ rights charities, like Toronto 519 and The Rainbow Railroad, as well as teaching people about drag. Yasssss, queen!

She was honored on the CW TV network special which aired on December 16th, among a few other dogs who also got awarded the “Dog of the Year” title. In the segment, Miss Pickles owners talk about how Miss Pickles survived cancer twice, had some necessary weight loss, and began wearing drag inspired by looks on RuPaul’s Drag Race, which her dog man Marg posted on Instagram. According to Marg, in an interview with the Toronto Guardian, Miss Pickles is also the only dog to get a shout-out from @rupaulsdragrace on Instagram.

The segment also includes human drag queens who have worked with Miss Pickles singing her accolades. You can watch the Miss Pickles segment of The 2021 Dog of the Year Awards on her Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CYKY0RABlJf/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link.
