Transgender voice therapy to be available in Southern Illinois

Carbondale’s Rainbow Cafe LGBTQ Center and SIUC Clinical Center announced this week they will offer a transgender voice therapy program starting this semester.

It will be open to everyone in the community.

Transgender voice therapy helps transgender people adjust their voices to more closely match their gender identity. For some, it can be part of treatment for dysphoria.

The SIUC Clinical Center program will consist of several sessions and go over things such as pitch, resonance, stability, naturalness, and even overall gendered communication habits. Assessment for the program will cost $15, and the Clinical Center will have a sliding scale for the full program to those applicable.

More information and details can be found on both the flyer below and at the Clinical Center.
