The Uniting Pride Center of Champaign County is hoping to add three members to their Board of Directors.
The LGBTQ community center is looking for people with a passion for LGBTQ advocacy and philanthropy and want to make Champaign County a more welcoming area.
“The Board has worked diligently for the last couple years to build financial and operational stability and the organization is now reaping the benefits of that work,” the center said in an announcement on their website. “We’re on the cusp of some major growth and would love to expand our Board to help steer the ship through our next phase.”
New board members don’t have to live in Champaign County. However, anyone who does join the board would need to know that the UP Center’s work is focused on the county. Their schedule would have to allow for meetings, events and programs when pandemic conditions allow.
The center was founded in 2009 as an organization to advocate for the equality, wellness, advocacy, and visibility of the LGBTQ communities in Champaign County. Since then they have established support and social groups, organized events and educational workshops, advocated for the community and organized the annual Pride Fest.
