Legacy Theatre to hold auditions for ‘Kinky Boots’

72

The Legacy Theatre will hold auditions for their upcoming production of “Kinky Boots” on March 26 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Performers may download audition materials and sign up for an audition session at the theatre’s website, www.AtTheLegacy.com.

The show is being directed by Betsy Buttell, with choreography by former Springfield Ballet Company director Julie Ratz. Vocal direction is by Haley Fisher, with musical direction by Mary E. Myers. Legacy Executive Director Scott Richardson is producing.

The show dates are Oct. 14-30. Rehearsals will begin in early September.

The theatre is casting all principal roles, as well as ensemble singers and dancers. In addition to various adult roles, two young boys will be cast to play the principal roles of Lola and Charlie as 10-year-old children.

Auditionees will participate in a singing and dancing audition, and may be asked to read for certain major roles. Those auditioning for the roles of Lola or the Angels are encouraged to bring heels to dance in (if they have them) but this is not required. Auditionees will be required to be masked while in the building, until the time of their actual vocal audition.

“Kinky Boots” was originally scheduled for the fall of 2021, then postponed to February of 2022, and is now scheduled for October of 2022. “These past three years have been a turbulent ride for us,” said Richardson. “We were able to get a show in this past summer, but then the theatre shuttered again and went dark for the fall season. We have a few events scheduled for this spring, films and concerts, and are currently in rehearsal for our summer show, the Gershwin song-and-dance extravaganza ‘My One and Only’. We’re hopeful that we can return to some sense of normalcy this spring.”
