Queers’n’Allies Community Blood Drive in Sycamore on April 23
QORRN and Safe Passage are inviting community members to attend a blood drive at the Federated Church of Sycamore on April 23.
The church is at 612 W. State St. in Sycamore. The blood drive goes from 9am to 1pm. To sign up for a donation time and to learn more, please visit www.QORRN.com/BloodDrive.
Donors and volunteers will enjoy appearances by DeKalb’s drag entertainers, Moana Lotte’s Barb City Babes, and will also be entered for a chance to win gift cards to area restaurants and bars.
Men who have sex with men (MSM) must abstain from sex for three months before donating blood. Blood collected during drives is tested for HIV, AIDS, and multiple other pathogens and diseases. Major blood centers, including the American Red Cross, along with many legislators, agree that the FDA needs to change its blood donation regulations.
QORRN is a community project based in DeKalb, dedicated to helping LGBTQ individuals in rural communities access the resources they need.
Safe Passage is DeKalb County’s only domestic violence and sexual assault crisis center, providing a wide range of services to survivors and their families including shelter, counseling, and advocacy.
