Alton became the latest Illinois community to hold their own Pride festival over the weekend.
Organizers estimated about 3,000 came to the event on Belle Street just north of downtown Alton. About 60 vendors and sponsor participated in getting the festival up and running, including Coordinated Youth and Human Services, US Bank, Metro East Pride, Jacoby Arts Center, Crazy Grama’s Crazy Creations, Mamma’s Pride Jewelry, the SIUE School of Pharmacy and many more.
The festival was the largest event so far produced by Alton Pride and, the organizers said, it was a success.
The Alton Pride organization is looking toward next year.
“We need a couple days to recoup!” they said in an email. “But yes! We are hoping for Sept 9th, 2023!”
