UIC nursing students have been have been helping Phoenix2U’s Springfield Harm Reduction Initiative.

The Phoenix2U Project brings mobile delivery of harm reduction services across Central Illinois. Services include HIV/Hep C testing and harm reduction education and supplies. All services are free and confidential.

The students have been at Phoenix2U for the last few weeks on Thursdays and Fridays

This past Friday, the students assisted with making harm reduction kits, picked up syringe litter, educated people on what harm reduction is, signed up some new participants, and made some deliveries of safer using supplies and Narcan.

“All of the nursing students have been incredibly eager to learn and hardworking, and it’s been so valuable having them!” Phoenix2U said in a Facebook post.
