Chambana declares LGBTQ+ Pride Week

The cities of Champaign and Urbana, along with Champaign County, have declared Sept. 24 through Oct. 2 as LGBTQ+ Pride Week.

The announcement was made at the Champaign City Council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 27. Champaign Mayor Deborah Feinen read the proclamation with representatives of the Public Works Department, Uniting Pride Center of Champaign County and city council members.

CU Pride is being celebrated in both cities throughout the week, culminating with a Pride Parade, Pride Fest and Melissa Etheridge concert on Sunday, Oct. 2.
