The Prairie Pride Coalition is sponsoring a blood drive this Saturday to help save lives and to raise awareness about the current FDA blood policy.

FDA policy maintains that men who have sex with men and some transgender people must remain celibate for three months before donating blood. Other blood donors do not have that restriction. The coalition will have information and information on how you can help pressure the FDA to update its outdated donation policy.

The blood drive is being co-sponsored by St. John’s Local – Missions Ministry. It will be at the St. John’s Lutheran Church Parish Life Center at 1617 E. Emerson in Bloomington. The drive is from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1.
