Hinsdale South High School in Darien has dropped “king” and “queen” from its homecoming titles.

FOX 32 Chicago reported that the school in the Chicago suburbs dropped the titles to give everyone a chance to be involved.

According to the TV station, students who win the titles can choose the title they want to have. This year, two male students were voted royalty and both chose “king” for their titles.

Seniors vote for 10 of their members to be the homecoming court. Other grades vote for two students to be added to the court. Then during an assembly, all students vote for who among the seniors will be royalty.

FOX 32 reported that 800 students voted and the two male students were chosen. The entire court reviewed the voting process and had no questions or concerns.

Riverside-Brookfield High School also dropped the titles this year, according to the station.
