Urbana’s Station Theatre is seeking female-identifying actors of any race/ethnicity for roles in “Drean Hou$e” by Eliana Pipes and “5 Lesbians Rating a Quiche” by Andrew Hobgood and Evan Linder on Saturday, Nov. 19.

“Dream Hou$e” will play from Feb. 2 – 12, 2023, with rehearsals starting after Thanksgiving.

In “Dream Hou$e,” two Latina sisters are appearing on an HGTV-style reality show to sell their family home, hoping to capitalize on the gentrification in their “changing neighborhood.” As they perform for the camera the show starts to slip into the surreal: one sister grapples with turmoil in the family’s ancestral past and the other learns how much she’s willing to sacrifice for the family’s future. What is the cultural cost of progress in America? And is cashing in always selling out?

There are three roles in the production.

“5 Lesbians Rating a Quiche” will play from March 30 – April 9, 2023, with rehearsals starting in early February.

In the play, the Susan B. Anthony Society for the Sisters of Gertrude Stein are having their annual quiche breakfast. As the assembled “widows” await the announcement of the society’s prize-winning quiche, the atomic bomb sirens sound! Has the Communist threat come to pass? How will the “widows” respond as their idyllic town and lifestyle faces attacks?

There are five roles of all ages in the play.

Auditions will consist of readings from the scripts, found here. You can sign up for an audition time here and fill out an audition form here.
